スウェーデンはグスタフスベリ製陶所に在籍した作家、ベルント・フリーベリの釉薬の表情が珍しい碗なりの作品です。全体に淡い青磁釉がかけられ、その上から薄い茶釉が二重掛けされて、 お互いが混ざり合い、全体を静かに流れております。淡い青磁色の釉薬と、薄茶の釉薬が見事に混ざり合い、普段フリーベリ作品ではあまり見かけない、淡い青の中に二つの茶の色味が混ざり合った、まるで水彩画のような柔らかい表情を楽しむことができます。釉の毛並みもチリチリとした細かなもので、 口縁から高台まできれいに流れ落ちております。 形は、きれいな碗なりのもので、正円の口縁を手捻りで歪めており、上から見ますと柔らかい三角形をしております。横からみますと独特のうねりを感じさせるもので、四角形やオーバル型の碗作品と並べますと、それぞれ違った口縁のうねりの表情が現れて、見ているものを飽きさせない様に設計をしております。 手取り良いお碗サイズで、口縁もやや厚めなので、お使いいただけそうな作品です。 70年代のフリーベリ作品は、緩慢な作品が多いものですが、この表情の美しさはなかなか現れるものではなく、最晩年の優品と思います。状態はたいへんによろしいものです。
This is a bowl with an unusual glazed expression by Berndt Friberg, an artist who worked at the Gustavsberg pottery in Sweden. The whole of the bowl is covered with a light celadon glaze, and a light brown glaze is applied over it. The pale celadon glaze and the light brown glaze blend together beautifully, giving the piece a soft, watercolor-like appearance with two tones of brown mixed in with the pale blue, which is not usually seen in Friberg's works. The glaze is fine and flows down from the mouth rim to the base. The shape of the bowl is a beautiful one, with the mouth rim of an equilateral circle distorted by hand, forming a soft triangle when viewed from above. When viewed from the side, a unique undulation can be felt, and when placed side by side with square and oval bowl works, the different expressions of the undulation of the mouth rim appear, and it is designed in such a way that the viewer will not be bored. The size of the bowl is handy, and the mouth rim is a little thicker, so it is a piece that can be used. Friberg's works in the 70's are often slow, but the beauty of this expression is hard to find, and I think this is an excellent piece from his last years. The condition is very good.
