デンマークはサクスボー製陶所の鉢サイズの作品です。サクスボー製陶所は、 釉薬研究家であり科学者のナサリー・クレブスと、 彫刻家グナー・ニールンドによって1929年に立ち上げられた実験的な工房でして、 東洋的でシンプルなフォルムや釉の作品をどこよりも早く作り出しました。北欧ではかなり先進的な発想を持った製陶所で、その後の現代陶芸に与えた影響は計り知れないものがございます。後に、サクスボー製陶所は1957年にミラノトリエンナーレにて、金賞も受賞しております。 サクスボーの作品は、全て、ナサリー・クレブスによって、釉薬が施されており、形を所属作家が各々制作をしておりました。この作品は、所属作家の中でも、ほとんどの轆轤を担当したエバ・スター・ニールセンの轆轤で作られており、茶の釉薬をナサリーが担当しております。 全体に薄い茶釉が掛けられ、さらに濃い茶釉が二重掛けされており、チリチリとしたサクスボー特有の表情が現れております。形は、きれいな正円の碗なりのもので、口縁も薄手で手取りも軽いものです。高台も丁寧に削られて、釉薬もぴっちりと塗られているのがよくわかります。見込みの底に目立たない擦り傷ありますが、その他の状態はたいへんによろしいものです。
This is a bowl-sized piece from Saxbo Pottery in Denmark. The Saxbo Pottery was originally an experimental workshop founded in 1929 by the glazier and scientist Nathalie Krebs and the sculptor Gunnar Nylund, who were the first to produce oriental and simple forms and glazes. It was one of the most forward-thinking potteries in Scandinavia, and had a significant influence on contemporary ceramics. The Saxbo Pottery was later awarded the Gold Medal at the Milan Triennale in 1957. All of Saxbo's works were glazed by Nathalie Krebs, and the shapes were created by the artists themselves. This piece was made on the wheel of Eva Star Nielsen, who did most of the wheel throwing, and Nathalie was responsible for the white glaze. The entire vessel is covered with a light brown glaze and then double covered with a darker brown glaze, giving it the distinctive Saxbo look with fine mottling. The shape of the bowl is a beautiful regular circle, with a thin mouth rim and a light hand. The rim is thin and the hand is light. The base has been carefully cut and the glaze has been well applied. There is an inconspicuous abrasion on the bottom of the handle, but the rest of the bowl is in very good condition.
