スウェーデンはグスタフスベリ製陶所に在籍した作家、ベルント・フリーベリの瑠璃色の花器作品です。全体に濃く深い瑠璃釉が掛けられ、その上から茶釉が二重掛けされて、お互いが混ざり合い、全体をきれいに流れております。全体は青に覆われておりますが、口先や肩の折れた部分は釉薬が拭かれて、素地の白のグラデーションが現れて、浮かび上がっており、大変に美しいものです。釉の毛並みはチリチリとした細かなもので、 口先から高台まで流れ落ちております。形は、胴がぷっくりと下膨れ、肩の部分で垂直に折れ、胴の中央から口先が細く伸びた、定番の水茄子型をしております。野菜や果実のほか、日本の肩付茶入れなどからも形の発想を得ていると考えられるもので、きりっと折れた肩の鋭角が、曲線を引き締めております。釉薬の表情や形のバランス、尖った角の作り方など、どれも秀逸で、緊張感のある佇まいをしております。状態はたいへんによろしいものです。
This is a lapis lazuli vase by Bernd Frierg, an artist who worked at the Gustavsberg pottery in Sweden. The entire pottery is covered with a deep, dark lapis lazuli glaze, over which a double layer of brown glaze has been applied, blending with each other and flowing nicely throughout. The entire piece is covered in blue, but the glaze has been wiped off at the mouth and shoulders, revealing the white gradation of the base, which is very beautiful. The furrows of the glaze are fine and flow down from the tip of the mouth to the base. The shape is the standard eggplant shape, with the body bulging underneath, folding vertically at the shoulder, and the mouth extending narrowly from the center of the body. In addition to vegetables and fruits, the shape was probably inspired by Japanese tea containers with shoulders, and the sharp corners of the shoulders tighten the curves. The expression of the glaze, the balance of the shape, and the way the sharp corners are made are all excellent, giving the piece a tense appearance. The condition is very good.
